Oak is by far the most common type of hardwood used for production of wood flooring in the United States. It’s hardness, natural beauty, stainability, and ease of domestic sourcing in different formats and sizes makes this product a popular option.

RECLAIMED WHITE OAK
New and reclaimed white oak is by far the most popular species for end grain wood block flooring. Vintage oak planks and structural beams are commonly salvaged from old buildings, factories, barns, warehouses, and other unique early to mid-20th century structures. In years past, oak was commonly used for framing and structural beams. Once extracted, the reclaimed oak planks or beams must be kiln dried, inspected, de-nailed, and molded or trimmed. These steps are vital to the pre-production of our wood blocks. Although standard wood grading rules do not apply, we strive to source the best batches of reclaimed lumber to produce our hand-crafted products.
Using reclaimed flooring (post consumer or post industrial) such as our reclaimed oak blocks can qualify for different LEED credits dependent on various criteria. If you need more information on how Kaswell products can work towards specific building credits, please contact us.

Known for its dark brown color range; from chocolate brown to deep brown with purple hues. Although softer than many other hardwoods, this species is often selected for its natural beauty and moisture resistance.
