Ever since the City of Chicago called us in 2010, and shared with us their plans to restore their historic street called "Wood Paver Alley", originally paved with blocks of wood in 1909, we've enjoyed learning about so many other streets in the USA also originally paved with wood in the late 1800's and early 1900's. God Bless Google for making our search so easy and enjoyable. Without the Web I don't know how we could have done it!
We've found so many wonderful articles and photos on line, including one about Tremont Street, right here in Boston! Even more fascinating to learn, that the world famous Champs-Elysees in Paris was once paved with end grain blocks too!
Trusting you'll enjoy the article and photos here that we've found. Enjoy it all! Au Revoir!
