Oak (hardwood) blocks are manufactured from Oak grown in the Tennessee and Kentucky region. The last installation we made with ½" depth x 3" x 3" squares of Red Oak was at Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA. When used for commercial projects, Oak blocks must be small because the stock from which they are cut must be furniture grade and dried to 10% or less. 3" x 3" and 2" x 4" Oak blocks are available for commercial projects. At a premium cost, 3" x 6" and 4" x 6" face sze Oak blocks are also available for industrial application only, many times used in aisle-way areas of industrial plants when heavier loads with smaller wheels require greater crushing strength than the traditional pine blocks.
